RELIGIOUS EDUCATION: GRADES - PRE, K - 12:

Catechesis of St. Philip The Apostle-PREP
Catechesis of St. Philip The Apostle Church focuses on the scripture, liturgy and Catholic doctrine.
The role of the Church is to assist parents/guardians in their solemn duty as primary educators of their children.
* Catechists and aides are provided with on-going training
* Classes are held both Sunday mornings and Monday evenings
      Sunday morning (Pre-K, K,@ 11:00a  & Gr.6-12 @ 10:00a)
      Monday evening (Gr. 1-5 @6:30p-8:00p) 

* Families must be registered in the parish
* Fees are $60.00 (one); $110. 00 for (two) $140.00 for (three or more) students per family
* An annual fundraiser provides the education program with extra funds in order to keep our tuition costs down.

Youth Ministry
Youth ministry at St. Philip's is open to youth in Gr. 9-12 with some activities open to
those in Gr. 7 & 8.

INITIATION MINISTRIES

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults -  RCIA
The process of becoming a Catholic Christian is called the Rite of Christian Initiation.
Adults wishing to become Catholic, including those who have not been baptized and
those baptized in another Christian faith, are invited to journey with our community to
the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Individuals Under the Age of 18
Children of school age who have not been baptized are also welcome for Christian
Initiation.  Special arrangements are required.

Rite of Christian Initiation-Team
Individuals with a deep and active faith, a love of people and a listening ear on the journey of faith are encouraged to serve on the core team. There are various roles on the team: hospitality, inquiry and session facilitator. Service in this ministry is a faithful response to our baptismal call to share in the mission of the church.
* Training is provided
* Commitment to weekly sessions is required

 SACRAMENT PREPARATION

Baptism

The parish community helps parents prepare for the Baptism of their children by helping parents to understand their role in their child’s spiritual life and growth, and by supporting them in undertaking this task.
* Please call the parish office to begin the preparation for this sacrament
* Included in the preparation will be a session that include learning more about our Catholic faith and an explanation of the symbols of baptism
* Team leaders meet monthly with parents on the first Sunday at 12:15 p.m. for an hour to an hour and a half

First Reconciliation
Children who were baptized may prepare to begin celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation when they reach grade 2.
* Children must be enrolled in a Christian Formation class or a home-schooled program
* Family registration in the parish is required
* Preparation is primarily a home study program but attendance at certain Monday evening
   PREP classes is required

First Eucharist
Children who were baptized may prepare for their First Eucharist when they reach grade 2.
* Children must be enrolled in a Christian Formation class
* Children are to have received First Reconciliation prior to receiving this sacrament
* Family registration in the parish is required

Confirmation
Students who were baptized may prepare for their Confirmation when they reach grade 7-8. Confirmation is offered every other year in our parish.
* Students must be enrolled in a Christian Formation class
* Students are to have received First Reconciliation, First Eucharist prior to receiving this          sacrament
* Family registration in the parish is required
*Preparation includes a monthly gathering of all candidates for confirmation regardless of
  the school attended.

Marriage Preparation
Engaged couples enter into the marriage preparation process as outlined in our "Marriage Preparation Guide", which can be obtained through the Pastor. This process includes the FOCCUS Instrument, an individual session with the Pastor. The Marriage Preparation Ministry helps in as many ways as possible to provide support for a successful marriage relationship.
* A couple needs to contact the Pastor to discuss their wedding plans at least 6 months before they desire to celebrate this sacrament
